African Update # 17 2009

     Hark! The Hungry Merchants Sing
(Sung to the tune Hark! The Herald Angels Sing)

Hark the hungry merchants sing; Glad to hear the cash drawer ring;

All this stuff up and down our isles; Buy it quick and leave with smiles.

Hurry quick, fore prices rise; Keep those tears from little eyes.

With indebted host proclaim; Mammon rules in Jesus name.

Hark! The hungry merchants sing; Glad to hear that ching, ching ching.

 Christian Theatrics

It is somewhat saddening to see Christmas Season become the ‘Festive Season’ here in Kenya. I guess the world is the world no matter where you go. America or Kenya the flesh is the flesh. Carnal Christmas is just one more bad piece of fruit coming from Christians desiring to be like the world. I have just completed a teaching called Floods and Frogs. It’s sort of a scriptural rant against the rise of Christian theatrics. Kenyan television is about one third religious programming and most of it is terrible. The rise of the Christian performer disheartens my soul. Watching slick looking preachers gyrating around on their “stage”, while yelling at their “audience” makes me sick. What does “blowing or waving” people down have anything to do with how Christ ministered his Holy Spirit to people? Does anyone care how crazy that appears to people who are looking for God? The apostle Paul was worried that people looking for God, would be “turned off” by attending meetings where believers spoke in other languages (other tongues) without it being interpreted.

If therefore the whole church be come together into one place and all speak with tongues, and there come in those that are unlearned, or unbelievers, will they not say that ye are mad?”         (1Corinthians 14:23)

The answer to his question is; of course, they will think you are crazy. What in heaven’s name, do you imagine they would think about, people acting like they were drunk, (holy laughter) or falling and rolling around on the floor convulsing, (slain in the spirit) or a host of other wonder working theatrics? I believe that people engaged in those activities have little or no regard for scriptural authority or precedent. Our Father in heaven is not a God of chaos and confusion or theatrical wonder working. Christ’s Spirit is always under His control …. And as His followers, ours should be as well.

And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets. For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.” (1 Corinthians 14: 32, 33)

Here are the first few pages of the teaching….

                     Floods and Frogs

For the past 2 hours, I have watched the many weird (and I do mean weird … look it up in the dictionary to know what I fully mean) religious programs flooding (and I do mean flooding) the living room and passing themselves off as authentic Holy Spirit filled Christian ministries.

And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood…. and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth.” (Revelations 12:15, 16)

I think there are many who do get swept away by this flood and eventually drown, trying to figure out what's God and what isn't God.

There is something for everyone floating by in this great body of fast moving water. Christian Rappers dressed like L.A. gang members grabbing themselves and giving gang signs, TV evangelist, that missed their real calling in life as comedians or actors, and of course, the miraculous “faith” Healers. All of them claiming to have “wonders from God”, flowing from this flood of Christian “revelations and resulting ministries.” Most of which in my opinion, are from the same source as that flood in the 12th chapter of Revelations.

A flood of books, teachings, CDs, DVDs, singers, concerts, conferences, ministries, retreats, speakers, councilors, educators, and entertainers. All offering some miraculous “whatever you need” for a small love offering to help their ministry.

After most floods you can also expect a major increase in the amount of frogs that will surely take advantage of all that water lying around.

And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world … (Revelation16: 13, 14)

                                                             Frogs and their Ministry

The word ‘miracle’ in the above passage can be defined as ….. “A wonder or miracle performed to validate someone or some teaching.” (See Strong’s Concordance) I think America and the rest of the world, for the last hundred years, have been being plagued with those miraculous, wonder working, spiritual frogs. Frogs hopping from denomination to denomination, church to church, preacher to preacher and yes, sermon to sermon. Unclean Frog spirits that work ‘wonders’ through corrupt men. These “lying signs and wonders” are not meant to validate anything but the carnal practices and men they endorse. It’s enough to make you croak!

If you’re wondering whether I think there may be exceptions to that harsh assessment, the answer is; of course there is. There are always exceptions. I earnestly believe, that floating down the prideful, swollen banks of this false, flooded river of contemporary revelation and resulting ministries, there are some sincere, well meaning people. Both on the giving and receiving end of ministry. Having said that, let me also say that those exceptions do not negate the fact, that most of the inner tube floating performers, with all their Hollywood theatrics coming down that river are sincerely wrong. Not only are they wrong but they cause millions of believers to drown in the fast moving currents of Christian paraphernalia. The flood of new Christian ministries and information has dramatically increased, spilling over its banks into every aspect of the Christian life. Yet its growth is directly proportional to the decrease of real practical Christian Love. With the rise false “Christian” teachings and ministries; deception and lawlessness have exploded. The scriptures speak clearly to the time we live in …

And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall grow cold. But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.” (Matthew 24:11-13)

“...For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own desires they will heap up for themselves teachers, having itching ears (wanting so badly to hear what they desire to hear); they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned aside to fables.”              (2 Timothy 4:3, 4)
“Christian ministers with “frog spirits” teaching people to believe fables (lies) through the powerful influence of technology and Christian theatrical wonder working.

Pray for those being seduced by the wonder working frogs and their human ministers. Pray that people will see the Christ of the scriptures in all our festivities.

May God allow you to be with those you love this Christmas and may you allow God, in all you do or say, be with the ones He loves, as well.

Merry Christmas from your sent ones in Kenya
